I decided to post my officially unofficial trans headcanons for Touhou, since I’ll probably forget them otherwise. And what better place to put them?  As a note, these characters are assumed at present to be trans women, although there’s room for things to shift around a bit as I flesh out my feelings about said headcanons. I prefer not to go with identifications that cause the character to be misgendered in-universe, but such is the limitation of working with an existing canon. Anyway, let’s start off! The list goes as follows:

This is eerily similar to what I tell myself in my head.  Reminding myself I can give up at any time allows me to take another step, knowing that I can quit if anytime I want to.  It’s counter-intuitive I guess, but it kinda makes sense to me because sometimes it’s easier to keep pressing on if you take the fear of being trapped in pain away, then rather than 1000 obstacles to push through, you just do 1 at a time.

As much as I tend to downplay the problems I deal with, and tell myself that I don’t even have it nearly as bad as a lot of other people, it surprises me how often things like this strike a chord with me.

I told myself once that I could give up if I wanted to, even though I was sure I didn’t want to. And I felt a tiny bit of weight lift off my shoulders. Maybe that’s weird, or maybe it’s not so weird if other people experience the same thing.

  Even if I am planning to release a big content update for each building type, I still don’t get why people ask this (and I receive it a lot).

  I mean, it’s early-game content, shouldn’t it be less powerful than the stuff you get at the end ?
  It’d be like :
  “hey Blizzard, my lvl 90 kills the lvl 7 boars in the starting zone in one shot, there’s no challenge, pls buff”
  “hey Sid Meier, my archers keep getting killed by tanks, pls buff”
  “hey Notch, why are wooden pickaxes so shit ? pls buff”

  (no I’m not comparing myself to any of those devs you nignugs)

  As a game designer, I personally like to ask myself why people have expectations like these, even if they’re stupid. Stupid stuff like this can sometimes reveal a weakness in the design, even if they’re, strictly speaking, wrong.

  That said, I’m not sure what the deal here is? I guess people expect lower-level buildings to rise in quality since cursors and grandmas do that. Or maybe it has to do with the fact that even the weak buildings rise significantly in price over time. But if you’re actually paying attention you’ll notice that the value of all buildings increase thanks to their boosting the cursor CpS.

  *shrug* Not really going anywhere with this in particular. Maybe if the cursor upgrades were reversed and cursors gave CpS to other buildings. It would have the exact same effect but the other buildings might feel more valuable, I guess. But then the same people would be complaining that cursors are ‘worthless’. So I dunno.

  Plus, farms are kind of boring anyway? I mean, how many cookies do you expect a cookie farm to produce compared to a portal to the cookie dimension or an eldritch cookie-baking grandma hive mind?

Hokay, so I decided to repurpose this blog, since Tumblr is pretty firm about the whole ‘primary blog’ thing being unalterable. It doesn’t matter what was here before, because now this shall be a blog for putting whatever nerdy stuff comes to mind. I can do all those neat social networky things that people do on Tumblr, like 'like'ing things, or reblogging random art I like, or rambling about nothing. Wait, I already do that. But anyway. I may also feel motivated to post creative works here, if I manage to get to it. Most of my creative energy right now is going toward a retro-style RPG starring a trans character, and all my posts about that go here: http://aurensstory.tumblr.com/

So obviously, posting about it here would be fairly redundant. But I’m sure I’ll find something to fill this space up with in time. But there’s also a serious risk that this will consist of reblogs of art and me going SQUEE and I’m more or less okay with that.
